Port State Measures Agreement
Following the ratification of the Port States Measures Agreement (PSMA) in June 2016, OceanMind is assisting countries with the validation and cross-checking of records provided by vessel owners to confirm compliance before delivering the seafood catch to port.
The implementation of PSMA will encourage a culture of conformity across the global seafood supply chain by delivering benefits through compliance to all stakeholders, from the owners of the resource in the coastal state all the way to the retailers selling the product to consumers.
The tailored support service provided by OceanMind is helping PSMA parties with various levels of agreement implementation to prevent, deter and eliminate Illegal Unreported and Unregulated fishing in their jurisdiction and allow governments, fish suppliers, fish processors, and retailers to quickly and easily understand the compliance risks associated with foreign-flagged vessels delivering seafood to port states and deliver tangible benefits to each user group.
PortStates.org is an exciting development concept that is currently seeking partners to help shape and implement a national-level tool for implementation of the Port State Measures Agreement (PSMA). Its vision is to assist public-private partnerships to stop Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fish from entering global supply chains.
